Applying I+P Techniques

Although it has only been a few weeks, I have noticed myself taking the tips and lessons I have learned in Ideation and Prototyping and applying it in different classes. This semester, I am taking Motion Graphics and it has been a challenge for me as I entered the class late. My first assignment involved me using a new software to create a short video. Instead of trying to attempt my final submission at my first try. I went through multiple interactions, just getting some ideas out. I also tried to incorporate sketches to visualize what I had in mind. I told myself to not focus too much on how precise and exact the sketches were, but to rather focus on completing them. This really helped me not only finish that aspect of the assignment faster, but also understand the software better by using something I know how to do, sketching, and use it to comprehend what the software was doing and how to use it.

This was my first sketch where I kind just laid out what assets I wanted to include in my machine video. I roughly sketched out the initial layout of the items.

Then after a few more sketches of playing around and settling on an idea, I decided to add where I would want to add animations of movement throughout the video and wanted to sketch that.

One of my latest few sketches include some sound effects that I would like to add. I also altered the original idea I thought I would have settled on. Sketching a few more times in between made me think that I could simply just change the layout a bit. I'm glad I sketched it before actually working on the software because it would have been a lot more work to change the assets on the program instead of experimenting with the sketches.

Overall, the sketching process and thinking of each new sketch as a remix really helped me in my creative process for another one of my classes.
