This week I spent an unhealthy amount of time scrolling through tiktoks on my phone. There was a really cool one that I watched where two guys went to the National Space Station to perform a popular tiktok trend after someone asked them to in the comments. This inspired me to sketch an astronaut. I have always been fascinated by space and used to love creating 3D models of the solar system so this was fun sketch for me.

This week I have been filled with excitement about the Fall season starting soon. My favorite season is Autumn. Everything about the season is beautiful, the colors, the movies, the Halloween mood, the fall snacks, and pumpkins!! It's also the perfect transition from the beginning of school to beginning of the holiday season! I love Halloween movies and pumpkin flavor snacks which inspired this sketch.

This week has already been feeling really long and it is only Monday. As I was working on some things I have to do for the week, I suddenly got hit with the munchies for some snacks. I only had cereal in my cabinet so I sat at 3:39AM having handfuls of cereal, yearning for some bubble tea and rice balls. It felt like utter sadness, eating healthy maple cereal, when all I wanted was good snacks to motivate me. Nonetheless, as I sat there craving anything else, I began sketching all the foods that consumed my mind at four in the morning.

This week I have been wanting to go on a vacation really badly. It's been months of New York City for me and I just want a different setting or view to look at. After being in the city for so long, I am craving some nature time away from here. I have never gone camping and have always wanted to rent out a van and go camping with some friends. The closest I got to roasting marshmallows was my stove in my family's old apartment. I would love to have some crispy, warm, sweet s'mores by a cozy warm fire.

This week was crazy, intense, and overwhelming for everyone in the United States as Election Day turned into election week. Sleepless nights all through Saturday kept millions in suspense. Saturday morning the news of Biden’s victory brought so much joy and relief to millions. Particularly, in New York City, crowds filled the streets as people celebrated freedom and hope for the future. Washington Square Park was filled with students dancing, waving flags, and singing victory songs and witnessing it felt like such a huge moment in history.

This week my roommate and I bought a television for our room and the first thing we watched was Spongebob Squarepants. There's something about the show that makes me feel so nostalgic and happy. I feel like it was an essential part of my growing up and that the jokes from the show are still relevant to my life to this day. There couldn't have been a better show to watch to celebrate getting a new TV!

This week for my last sketch to post, I worked on my tablet and used a person for inspiration. I have been playing around with textures a lot recently and haven't had much of a chance to use many textures in one drawing. Thus, I thought it would be cool to make a portrait and use different textures and shades to get the best drawing I could. I really enjoyed having a real person to base my sketch out of because I haven't really had that many realistic looking drawings except for my window one. This one allowed me to focus more on sketching, but also focusing on sketching with purpose rather than what is freely floating in my mind.

This week I bought a new Aloe plant for my room. My friend also gave me some red flowers. I have been trying to change the look of my room by adding more plants and small decor. These two new additions to my room really helped pull everything together. While I was people watching through my window the other day, looking into the office building across from me, before I knew it I began sketching what I was looking at.

This week I got a new pet turtle. I was walking down the street with my friend to grab some Bubble Tea when we saw turtles and in that moment I knew I had to get it. I have wanted a turtle for the longest time, but never had the opportunity to actually purchase one. But, this moment was different, I felt like I had to get him. His name is Munchi and his favorite color is green. He spends most of his time looking at my painting. I just got him some new aquatic plants which he really admires which inspired this sketch.

This week I have been focusing on trying to calm myself as midterms are overwhelming me. While I sat in my bed hugging my new cushion plush, ready to let out some stressful tears, I was reminded of my Pooh plush. Ever since I was a little kid, Pooh bear meant a whole lot to me. I had a Pooh couch, hats, plushes, coats, books, everything you can imagine. It brought me a sense of comfort. Years later, my Pooh plush still brings me this odd sense of happiness. Maybe it's because it makes me nostalgic. Maybe it reminds me of the innocence and pureness of when we are little kids. Maybe it's just incredibly soft and squishy.

This week I have been in an Autumn mood all week. I was sitting in a coffee shop recently and saw a girl with really cute leather boots which looked like a perfect Fall fashion staple! They were long boots but not long enough that it bothers walking, just enough to look cute and keep rain and snow out of the shoe. Since it looked so fall like, I was inspired to add a few leaves that came to my mind.

This week is the last week before Thanksgiving next week! I'm feeling extremely grateful for those in my life who are still here. It's a moment to celebrate that we are still lucky to be living through this pandemic, and very important to say "I love you" and "thank you" to those who we cherish. My family has feasts often as we always have guests over. But, this past year it has been different and quiet at home and not as much cooking going on. Thus, I am really looking forward to the Thanksgiving feast next week even if it is just my parents, sister, and I. It won't feel as exciting, but then again this is a different year. Here's to a good Thanksgiving nonetheless.

This week I walked past the Bryant Park Holiday Market and saw the holiday spirit in full gear. I was surprised to see that the market was open and people were actually skating during pandemic times especially since it is only getting worse in NYC. Nonetheless, seeing people skating around and Christmas lights shining around them was a scene that brought me back to the good ol' days where people were freely skating, helping strangers get up, no mask was in sight, and no fear of a pandemic was present.
